Calicut: A Balakrishnan, 79, who retired from Malayalam daily Deshabhimani, died at a hospital in Calicut on Saturday morning. He was a former president of Feroke panchayat and active member of Senior Journalist Forum-Kerala.
The SJFK leaders K P Vijayakumar, general secretary, P O amAboobacker, kozhikode district president, and others paid homage to the departed colleague at his residence on Saturday. Balakrishnan who was actively associated with CPI(M) had been engaged in public service in his area for decades after retirement and was a popular public person. He leaves his wife and three children.
